Bolshoi means great in Russian. Indeed, the show was great! I had little doubts of whether to go or not - last year we have seen 'the Swan Lake' by Mariinka, the competior of Bolshoi from St. Petersburg. We wished Bolshoi would have bring some other balley, not the Swan Lake. However, my doubts dissapeared with the first sounds of music...It was a completely different performance. Yes, the music was the same - you can't change Mr. Chaikovsky. But instead of a fairy tale, we saw a tragedy - how a simple mistake in your life can change everything! The young dancers were amazing, extremely professional and expressive! The decorations, the costumes - everything was in the same style... I had a feeling of a miracle. Yes, last year Mariinka was great (I am a Moscovite by birth, so in this two hunderd year rivalship between St. Pete and Moscow, I am on the Moscow side), but Bolshoi was different and amazing! I got so much positive energy from this balley, that for the next two-three days I was simply 'flying' - I had a feeling that I could do everything. By the way, if you are in Moscow, you can rarely have a chance to see the same dancers - the best ones are usually performing somewhere abroad...
